Gender Issues
The two movies that I saw for this class were "Adams Rib" and "Boys Don't Cry". These two movies equally addressed the issue of women's rights with unique qualities. Adams Rib told the story of women's struggles during the more sexually discriminative 1940's; and how a one sided issue is when the man cheats on the wife rather than vice versa. "Boys Don't Cry", set in a modern day background, is about a young woman in the midst of an identity crisis. She dresses up as a man, hangs out with "the guys": and almost entirely forgets that she is a woman, unless of course when she is hiding it. Ultimately, she is discovered and is killed. I don't think the gun is the only thing that killed her; I believe it was more sexism but mainly ignorance.
Ignorance and discrimination played a major role in "Adams Rib", and thankfully women have come along way since those times. They are now more intimidating and are often the aggressors in a relationship, in some cases even being physically......
