The Genre Of Science Fiction
The genre of science fiction is very different compared to other genres of story, it often looks into what the future might hold, giving the reader a sense of curiosity and will make them want to delve further into the science fiction genre. In the short story “Paths” by John Christopher, it shows a young boy who finds different people from alternate realities in an area of forest near where he lives, these people are from the same area in which he lives, but from a different point in time. One girl he meets is from 100 years before his time, another boy around 200 years before, and one boy he suspects to be almost 1000 years before his, but he later finds out in the story that the boy he suspected to be from over 1000 years ago is actually from the future, and it shows his town area destroyed and only rubble remain. When the reader would reach this point in the story (climax), they would be wanting more, but the story is near to an end, so science fiction gives the reader their own alternate reality and explores the possible of what might happen in the future.
Writers of science fiction genre have a great imagination; the unknown motivates them, they write to give a false sense of belief, they write indeed to build suspense and then resolve this suspense with a thought of what was thought to be the impossible, they are motivated by anything that makes people wonder of what could be, or what might be one day, often of what the future holds for us, because the possibilities are endless. Writers create this sort of story to give a false sense of belief, to make us think of what might actually be one day. They create these stories to let the readers know of what they think life might be one day or what might happen, they write to let out their ideas.
