Aim
1. Identify causes of sand dune erosion - Natural

2. What is being done in protection of sand dunes?
3. Suggest possible alternative management strategies for maintaining sand dunes?
Hypothesis
1. I think possible natural causes could be wind, high tides washing against the dunes, large surf conditions and heavy rain. Human causes of erosion could be large community events with the beach being heavily crowded and large tents and equipment wearing the sand dunes away.
2. M y hypothesis for what is being done is, I think there have been plants planted in the dunes so the plants roots go into the dunes and help keep the sand together, or having sand imported to the dunes to replace lost sand.
3. Alternative protection strategies could be making laws for protecting the dunes e.g. introducing punishments for the removal of sand from sand dunes or prohibition the use of heavy machinery on dunes unless being used for conservational purposes.
Where I am going to get my information
I will get my information from many internet sites, interview lifeguards on what community events have been effecting the dunes and I will go to lighthouse beach as often as I can and get photos of the dunes and compare how mush they erode over certain periods of times.
