      The purpose of this paper is to conduct benchmarking for Global Communications using six different companies. The first part of the paper will identify communication issues with Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, discuss national and international outsourcing issues with Nike and Whirlpool, and explain competition issues for Wal-Mart and K-Mart. The second part of the paper will identify key organizational communications, emotional intelligence, and organizational commitment. The third part of the paper will compare and contrast each company’s opportunity, which can be used as resources for Global Communications to asses what works and what does not work.

The Issue: Communication
      Global Communications, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon all have the same issue of communicating different negotiation plans with the unions. The issue with Raytheon is negotiating the labor contract between the employer and the union. Communication is the solution here because the workers are what make the company stay in business and help the corporation be the leader in the industry. Raytheon is facing a strike with the union over several different issues from wages to health care. The company needs to communicate a plan with the union to make sure both sides are having the needs and wants met.
