Global Warming
1.1 INTRODUCTION
As our lifestyles get busier and busier, it seems like all people ever do is work. Once in a while we all need a break just to get away and experience something new. Many factors come into play when decided on a holiday like where to go, what you want to do, when you want to go, and how much money to spend. But in recent years it seems like there are deeper issues coming to the surface which we all need to think about. The aim of this essay is to critically discuss the provisions of tourism services and experiences is rarely affected by social and political tensions. This paper will focus on three main political and social issues, Terrorism, war and global warming and discuss what kind of affect, if any they have on tourism. According to the World Tourism Organisation ‘Tourism has become an extremely popular, global activity. In 2004, there were over 763 million international tourist arrivals.’ (Wikipedia 2007) But what factors make these tourists travel to certain places or counties rather then others?
2.1 TERRORISM
The first major factor that could affect tourism services and experiences has to be terrorism. Since September the 11th 2001 the world’s tourism industry hasn’t been the same. Countless more terrorist attacks have happened since then, which has had a devastating impact on tourism. One particular terrorist attack that hit closest to home was the Bali bombings. Recent bomb attacks in Indonesia’s most important tourist destination, Bali blew the islands tourism industry to bits.
2.2 Terrorism affects on Tourism
