Healthy Eating Habits
Why is eating healthy important? Many people today enjoy a greater amount and varieties of food than ever before. Nevertheless, countless health and nutritional problems arise from unbalanced diets and overeating. Some people maybe overweight because they may not be eating a proper diet; for example, a diet of fast foods that are high in fats and calories. However, one of the benefits of eating healthier is to avoid being obese.
Essential Nutrients
First there are many essential nutrients that people do not always get in their diet. For instance calcium is an essential nutrient to help people’s muscles, bones, maintaining a normal heartbeat, and it also plays a role in blood clotting (Ward, 2007). Another essential nutrient people should include in a diet is fiber. Fiber is essential because it helps keep bowel movements regular and can help prevent other intestinal problems like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Other foods that people should include in their diet are fruits and vegetables. According to Ward (2007), everyone should eat at least seven to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Many fruits and vegetables are enriched with Vitamin-C. Vitamin-C is essential an essential vitamin in a persons diet because to help keep a person’s muscles, bones, skin and tissues looking and feeling healthy (Ward, 2007).
Eating Breakfast
Many people do not eat breakfast because they may not have the time to eat due to busy schedules. Some people do not know that breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day.
