Functions of Management
All organizations must have their own functions of management the have set forth. They usually use planning, organizing, directing and controlling as the building blocks for all areas of management. Without having a clear management functions be competitive in the ever changing economy. A true leader will take the company and their direct reports to new heights as long as they stick with the basic functions.
Planning
According to Pakhare (2007), planning is the foundation of management. Planning takes in to account the broader business and tactical methods to get results. Management must effectively plan various aspects of the business group. The planning portion of management takes care of making sure there is adequate staffing to the amount of product to send to production. With out the proper planning in staffing a company’s customer service could suffer due to the lack of people to take care of the company’s customers. Not having enough products in production can cause customers to have long lead times on their product.
Organizing
Every company out there must get it together and get organized. Without organization management cannot get all their resources in order prior to putting into practice the course of action they have decided to do in the planning stage. Organization must be an integral part of any business unit. Management must be able to organize the workforce to be able to take on the tasks the have planned for, along with the ability to see to the harmonization of staff. They must be able to try to discover the best way to handle the important tasks, and the division of work according to need.
