Hinduism is a name that some foreigners came up with to categorize some Indian people living along the Indus River. Hinduism is actually a collection of religions that fall under one umbrella because of the lack of togetherness that was shown with other like Buddhism and Jainism. These religions were more unified and therefore not labeled the same way. Another label that is more preferred today is Sanatana Dharma. The meaning of this is “ageless religion” which describes the Indians to a tee. The spiritual expressions of these people range from one extreme to another but all fall into the one same constant and that is that there is something all powerful out there.
I think that the cultural and societal influences that Hinduism has on the region in which it originated is vital in the way that one never forgets and they in turn will learn and grow from the more modernized societies. Through teachings and scriptures passed down through the millennia, the people of India will stay true to themselves and to each other. Since Hinduism is based on the fact that whatever you do in your life has an effect on the way your life plays out then by just following that alone helps the region get along with each other. Even nowadays with the RSS coming of age and so-called re-vitalizing the Hindu beliefs to help fight off the intrusion of Christians and Muslims. It is believed however by some that the RSS is using these tactics for selfish needs and preach and throw stones at other religions to take the eyes away from the things that they are doing under cover.   There is another guy called Dr. Karan Singh who throws out a different belief that since Hinduism supports acceptance to all manifestations of the divine or different deities then that means organized religion as well.
