Abstract
Hinduism is a religion which has many different beliefs.   These beliefs vary depending on location. Hinduism is also a religion that has no single founder and can be traced back to ancient 4000 B.C.

Hinduism   is a religion that seems to lack a uniting belief system, yet there is an underlying unity to the Hindu belief system despite differences in certain religious practices.   Hinduism differs from Christianity and other Western religions in that it does not have a single founder, a specific theological system, a single system of morality, or religious organization. A diverse body of philosophical and cultural practice characterizes Hinduism. Hinduism is a combination of varied beliefs and traditions, the major beliefs include Karma (right action or destiny), Dharma (religious principles and responsibilities), Samsāra (reincarnation or rebirth), and Moksha (liberation from the cycle of rebirth or samsara). All the different traditional beliefs of Hinduism seek to attain enlightenment and truth although different ways and means may be employed. All Hindu sects believe in truth, non-violence, prayers, austerity, honesty, celibacy and penance. Hindusim does not have a single founder. It is a religion that has evolved over thousands of years. The Hindu scriptures are collectively referred to as the Shashtras. The Hindu scriptures were initially passed on orally from generation to generation until finally ancient scholars wrote them down, mainly in the Sanskrit language that was the prevailing language of the time. The major Hindu scriptures include the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Upanishads and the epic tales of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.
