Should The United States Develop a Missile Defense System
Should the USA create a missile defense system? Should we pour millions and billions of dollars into the faulty system to protect us against a threat that does not exist? In my opinion, no, we should not.
Ronald Reagan proposed the plan for a space defense system way back. The system required futuristic space ships and laser based weapons. None of these existed. But a fund was created for a missile defense system from Congress. Clinton later revived the plan in 1999.
President Bush has increased the 6.6 billion dollar budget. The system has been tested a few times. Both times, the test failed. The tests were extremely expensive. A lot of effort and money was wasted
Now, in America's war against terrorists, we need more money for anti-terrorism groups. We need to have more surveillance equipment so we can find the terrorists. Close range missiles, chemical weapons and suicide bombers are much more a threat......
