If I could ban anything in the world it would be smoking. In my opinion smoking is discusting. I am going to explain different types of smoking, the health effects of smoking, effects on the industry and habitat, and legal issues dealing with smoking. People usually smoke for pleasure, they are addicted to nicotine, or because of peer pressure. Tobacco smoking was found in Spain and then found out by the rest of the world through trade. Medical research has found that tobacco smoking causes lung cancer, emphysema, and cardiovascular disease along with other problems.
There are different methods of smoking. I am going to explain just a couple of them. Cigarette smoking is the most common method of smoking and is the leading cause of death and illness among Americans. 1Around 430,000 Americans die every year from smoking cigarettes. 1About 25% of all American adults smoke. Slightly more men (28.1%) smoke than women (23.5%). Hispanics (20.4%) smoke less than whites (25.3%) or African Americans (26.7%). Some of the ingredients in cigarette are dried tobacco leaves, and added ingredients for flavor. In the added ingredients are more than 60 compounds that are known carcinogens also known as cancer causing agents.
Pipe smoking is used with a pipe designed for smoking out of. Pipes are made from a variety of materials such as briar, corncob, meerschaum, clay, wood, glass, gourd, bamboo, and metal. Not many people smoke pipes. Usually they prefer cigarettes. 2Overall, 1 per cent of men in 2006 said they smoked a pipe and they were all almost aged 50 or over.
Cigars can contain just as much tobacco as an entire pack of cigarettes. Some people feel they are a less dangerous way to smoke, but they are wrong. Cigars come in different sizes. 3Large cigars usually contain 5 to 17 grams of tobacco. 29 grams is an ounce so a very large cigar can contain more than half an ounce of tobacco, which is as much tobacco as a pack of...
