Islam Qu'Ran

Although this is my first course in this University and about Religion I went into studying Islam without any basic knowledge in it; but now it is clearer.
The Qur'an is the main sacred text of Islam. It is the direct and literal word of God himself. Something that is entirely different from other texts which were derived from the word of men. The Qur'an was revealed to the Muslims through the prophet Muhammad which in turn was revealed to him through the angel Gabriel. It can only be interpreted in Arabic, its original language. No translation can be accepted because it looses meaning. Assuming that translation would mean it no longer is the word of God. Islam, I think means to submit to God; Muslim is also the same meaning. Therefore, the Qur'an was given to the Muslims as a means to know the will of God, or how to achieve it. They must recite continuously its prayers and follow it verses.
