Jean Louise Finch

Everyone in the world go through a process in which they learn and try to understand something. As you read this novel, To Kill a Mockingbird the narrator will tell you her experiences of what she learned and felt about them. The narrator is known as Jean Louise Finch or "Scout," which is her nickname. Scout is a dynamic character who learns more about growing up, racism and her social environment.
To begin with, Jean Finch is only a first grader with a high vocabulary and the passion to read. She seems to be a very intelligent girl for her age. However, Scout's special talents tend to go against her. For example, on the first day of school, Scout gets in trouble for knowing how to read and not following the same pace as the class. Inside, Scout feels that school is a horrible place and as a result, Scout begs her father if she could quit school and never go back.
