Planning Functions Of Management
One of the most common sets of activities in a company of the management is planning. Very simply put, planning is setting the direction for something or some system and then guiding that system to follow the direction the company wants it to go. There are many kinds of planning functions in organizations. Common to these many kinds of planning are various phases of planning and guidelines for carrying them out as effectively as possible. The company By the Numbers is an entertainment business specializing in music production, post-production, planning events and holding concerts with successful turn-outs. By the Numbers is a fairly new company started in March of 2000 by Corey Pounds.
By the Numbers uses some very typical phases in planning. In this nine step planning process that basically lays out the process for activities carried out in similar sequence. Reference overall singular purpose or desire from a System, this is their very first step in planning. During the planning period, the planners have in their mind some overall purpose or result that the plan should accomplish. It is their “Mission Statement”. By the Numbers second step with would to analyze the situation. For example one of the first things this company does is the SWOT analysis. During this analysis, planners can use different ways to measure the strength of the system. Now that By the Numbers planner’s have a general idea weather or not the system will work or not, the planners can now start establishing the goals. Based on the analysis and direction to the overall mission of the system, planners establish a set of goals that build on strengths to take advantage of opportunities, while building up weaknesses into strength and warding off threats. The fifth step is to find strategies to accomplish the goals. Not all strategies are easy.
