Control systems are used to constrain employee’s behaviors and it also makes their behavior somewhat predictable. A control system can be looked at in two ways effective or ineffective. Control system are used to let employee knows what is expected out of them at all times and knows what happens if they have erratic behavior. When a control system is ineffective it cause employees to become dysfunctional and have erratic behavior. When a control system is effective you can conform the employee’s behavior to fit the organizations standards.
An effective control system in an organization can regulate and monitor all the organizations activities and allow manager a chance to overcome occasional resistance in employees. “Effective control systems are closely integrated with planning and are flexible, accurate, timely, and objective” (University of Washington 2008). A control system must be able to accommodate change when an unforeseen situation generates chaos in the organization. It should also be able to provide at all times accurate information because if inaccurate or inappropriate information is given it can lead to improper decision-making action on the behalf of the management. When a control system is used on an uncertain and unstable environment it should be required to provide information more frequently than needed.
