Letter

Dear student,

In response to your email dated May 7th, I am writing to reply to the questions you have raised and inform you the ultimate and momentous judgment I have made.

Before bringing up the serious subject, I would like to take a moment at telling you a short story. Soon after I graduated from the university, I was given two interviews – one was the current position as a course coordinator and the other was a management trainee which appears to have a better prospect. Your point is that you believe the rules are telling you that even though you had studied and worked hard in the course, the unavoidable and unexpected sputtered fuel pump means your final grade is zero. It appears that you have misunderstood the rules. The rules are clearly stated in the reminder email on April 28th – “Exam will begin promptly at 9am and doors will be closed to students at that time. Do not be late.” This is the rule.

Rules are rules. They are set to guarantee fairness and...
