Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to relate and apply the management functions in solving the overarching problem of the organization. Chevron Corporation is the fifth largest oil company in the world and it is ranking as the second in United States. Chevron was originally known as Standard Oil of California. It was founded in the late 18th century. It engaged in every aspects of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. The current CEO and chairman of Chevron is David J. O’ Reilly.
Pollutions such as oil spill and toxic gas emission created by Chevron Corporation in Ecuador have caused environmental damage and disrupt the ecosystem of the country for which it has great impacts on one of the specific environments (public pressure group). Prompt actions should be carried out as the pollutions pose fatal threat to the mother earth and Mankind. The goal of the organization is to reduce and minimize the probability of polluting the mother earth. The scopes of the report are based on the articles and journals collected from both internet and newspaper.
Regarding to the problem caused by Chevron Corporation, two of the management functions which is planning and controlling have been used to prevail over the air pollution and water contamination.
