To be a successful manager in the world today, managers must have excellent people skills and have the ability to make difficult decisions in a timely manner. The manager's role has changed over the past two decades. Management is defined as the attainment of organizational goals in an effective and efficient manner through planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizational resources. Managers can have different personalities and styles but good managers use old techniques mixed with new ideas. Possessing conceptual, human and technical skills are a very important part of being a manager. In this essay I will discuss successful management techniques and compare those techniques to a manager I worked with for several years.
Managers are responsible for the success of their company. Four main tasks of management mentioned above will be discussed here in more detail. Managers are responsible for setting goals and deciding on the resources that will be used to attain them. They achieve this by planning the goals and objectives of the firm based on where the company wants to be in the future.
Ann Max is the executive director of a small not-for-profit organization. The company assists disabled persons to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Ann is ultimately responsible for hundreds of people's personal safety and monetary funds. She takes this job very seriously and is always striving to keep the company's services the best they can be. Bi-weekly meeting are held to reassess goals and methods used to achieve them. The ultimate goal of the company is to provide the best personal care possible to individuals as they go through life.
