Kudler Fine Foods is a successful, upscale specialty food store located in southern California. The gourmet retail store is a one-stop shop for the freshest ingredients and most unique culinary tools serving the most cultivated cooks. Kudler Fine Foods services food enthusiasts from three California locations-. La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas. Kathy Kudler, the President, who had grown tired of searching high and low for specialty food products, founded the company in 1998. The stores are stocked with the very best domestic and imported goods and divided into five areas:
• Fresh bakery items
• Fresh produce
• Fresh meats and seafood
• Cheese’s and specialty dairy products
• Wine and Spirits
Kudler is in the process of restructuring their operations and has appointed middle management positions at each store to take on more responsibilities. During the current restructuring, mid level managers will be required to hire more personnel, develop a training plan for current and new staff, develop a compensation structure, and develop a better appraisal system to include a progressive disciplinary process. The management team of Kudler Fine Foods has been given the task of developing a proposal to submit to upper management.

Salary Range (Salary.com, 2008): $41,111 to $78,057 annually plus bonus potential of 0% to 40% of base salary
The first-level manager will manage employee relations, sales, customer concerns, and monitor inventory frequently to ensure outstanding customer service.
