1. Which motivational theories are at work in Eagle?
a. The Herzberg Theory reflects the idea that motivational factors such as recognition increase worker performance. This theory can be recognized by the Eagle Pharmaceutical company though the aspect that each quarter the most successful salesperson will be featured.
b. Eagle Pharmaceutical seems to emphasize Theory Y in the aspects that the workers are stimulated by rewards unique to that worker. At Eagle Pharmaceuticals the salespersons are each given individual goals, if these goals are reached or exceeded each employee is recognized and the top twenty sales people are awarded a trip to the Caribbean. Along with this, Managers are given the chance to shine through presenting their winning strategies to other mangers across the country through video conferencing.
c. Theory Z is represented by the Eagle Pharmaceutical Company through exemplifying the aspects of collective decision making, individual responsibility, and moderately specialized career paths. For example, in Eagle Pharmaceuticals each salesperson is given a separate sales goal based on their experience client base, and previous sales volume. Furthermore, quarterly, managers meet and video conference between the top region managers to learn new strategies and tactics which were used in collective decision making on how to further advance the company.
d. The goal-setting theory is exemplified by the Eagle Pharmaceutical Company through the fact that the company sets goals which cannot only be attained but surpassed. Due to the fact that Eagle Pharmaceuticals uses video conferencing to better the companies selling techniques, employees are therefore receiving feedback on how they can improve their selling approach.
