Mother Jones: Overcoming Adversity
Fredrick Douglas once said, "Without a struggle, there can be no progress." In the years of Mother Jones, there was much progress to be made. The workers on coal mines, train yards, factories, and logging camps were all in deperate need of rights. She dedicated her days to raising attention and consciences about the poor labor condtions in America, making her one of the most contriversial figures of her time.
She was able to make a vast amount of accomplishments in the face of such prodominant adversity. She worked until she was over ninety years old, her main goal in life being to make a change. In trying to ameliorate conditions, she would make several speaches all across the country to speak on workers behalfs. She fought and struggled for them, and as a result was arrested, jailed and threatened at gunpoint.
