Abstract
Motivation is a key ingredient in any successful company. What is motivation and how can it be applied in companies has become a billion dollar industry as well as a multimillion dollar response for some companies. In order to solve this question I have interviewed the CEO of ReadyTalk, Dan King, and conducted my own research. My results have indicated that while each company employs its own methods of motivation, the core to a successful long-term motivation comes from learning what passion motivates your employees before they are your employees and then turning this passion and motivation into a job within your company. The ability for companies to create intrinsic motivational environment has the potential to be taught to all future employees and current employers to create a more motivated workforce across the world, allowing for an end result of happier employees and higher profits for companies.
Who is Dan King?
In order to further my knowledge of motivation I interviewed Mr. King. Mr. King, 50, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), cofounder, and director for ReadyTalk (www.readytalk.com). ReadyTalk is a Denver, Colorado firm that supplies web conferencing services. I spoke with Dan about the startup of his company and how he has used motivation since the inception to help create the successful company that he has today.
Why Dan King?
I met Dan at a Leeds GEA retreat in September 2008. He was invited to the retreat in part to ReadyTalk’s co-founders, himself and his brother, Scott King, being awarded Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 Award Winners.
