Moving Away From Home
Speech: Moving away from home for the first time is hard.
Moving away from home for the first time isn't all it's cracked up to be. Most kids can't wait until they can get out on there own, but what so many don't realize is that it isn't all fun and games. Many luxuries that where take for granted at home can not be taken for granted anymore. Some things like having dinner made for you, your laundry done, or getting some extra gas money from mom. These are just a few examples of what many took for granted before moving out on their own.
Leaving your family behind, and becoming self sufficient isn't so easy. It is difficult having to meet new friends, and especially difficult to leave your childhood friends. Becoming home sick is also a huge obstacle to overcome, because whenever the going gets tough, it's very easy to feel sorry for yourself, and think of how good things where at home.
Having come from a very close loving family, it has been quite difficult adjusting to life without them. The simple things like sitting down with your parents and watching a movie with them are not so possible anymore. When your having a rough day or are upset about something, and you need a hug or words of advice, you just can't go into mom and dad's room to see them for a few minutes. Life at home holds many securities. You never have to worry about eating, because you always know there is something in the fridge or dinner is on the way. The daily events of life aren't taken for granted anymore, because you now have to fend for yourself, cook your own meals, buy your own groceries etc... Moving away from the people you love is a very difficult thing to do, many things that you expected and grew accustom to having around are totally different.
In moving to a new place meeting new people can be wonderful, but is also intimidating. Moving away from the people and friends you've known your whole life...
