Introduction
The purpose of this report is to examine and evaluate on how to develop a novel shelving unit made with materials from the fair trade channels. The shelving unit composes all imperative features enabling organisation of students work load which provides a unique selling point. This project has been commissioned by an organisation that seeks to source its materials from the third world producers. Through out history various tools and strategies have been developed to enhance efficiency, productivity and organisation of social, educational and professional tasks. In 2005 through to 2006 there were approximately 2.3 million students in the UK alone, the task of them organising their work load with the attention of ultimately enabling sufficient and productive day to day basis acuity can be accomplished through utilizations of a product allowing planning and organisation of work load. Furthermore, providing organised storage space for work load and materials used such as note books, stationery.... In addition the material used and consumed in production of this shelving units are from third world countries in conjunction with fair trade, but it further reinstates the notion of fair trade amongst students who are potentially the future of our planet and are more likely to get more involved in fair trade for a life long period. This report contains a development of the product, materials information, location and assessment of cost, distribution of the product, outlet recommended and finally a conclusion that summarises the attributes of our design and the key issues that we identified. A student questionnaire and various tables and graphs have been attached in the appendices. The sources used to obtain relevant information is websites, books and literature.
