Music preference is different for every individual. A person's personality, at least most of the time, determines what kind of music a person is interested in or enjoys to listen to. Every person listens to music, it is all around us. Music is in our houses, cars, shopping malls, supermarkets, and even some elevators. There is not a single person, at least that I have met, that does not have an opinion about the kind of music that they like to listen to.
Alternative music is one of the biggest categories of music there is. In turn, this is what the general public enjoys. This kind of music can be anywhere from mellow and peaceful to heavy and loud. Alternative music mostly appeals to the younger generation of music listeners. One will also find this kind of music being played at most parties or clubs.
Metal music is one up from alternative. If you like metal music it is most likely that you also like alternative music. Metal was made popular in the middle to late eighties. It is known for its bands having long hair, grungy clothes, and long, loud, and sometimes ear piercing guitar solos. Metal is still around today but has become more of a hardcore type of music. Most people see it as an aggressive type of music.
Classic rock is for people that like softer rock. This kind of music is usually referred to as old music. For the most part, this kind of music is still very popular. Not many radio stations still play classic rock. A good example of this kind of music would be the songs of The Eagles.
Now, on a completely different tone, country music is another of the many styles of music. Most people when they hear country music they think of some guy in a cowboy hat and boots singing about how his girlfriend left him, his dog died, and his pickup broke down.
