The book, It's Not About A Salary, gives information on the history of LA Hip hop and then compares it to the other types of hip hop music that is out in the world today. This includes: Chicano Hip hop, Urban Hip hop, East and West Coast Rap and Old school Rap. Also, along with giving history there are interviews and stories told by famous people in the industry. Some of the interviews are from: Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Easy E., Cypress Hill and House of Pain. In the interviews it addresses subjects such as how they feel their music is looked at by society. Dr. Dre quoted, "It tripped me out and bugged me but if the music is good, people are going to listen to it. They buy more than seventy percent of our music, they wanna be down with the blacks and know what's going on in our world" (Cross, 201). This quote was referring to how he felt......
