Chapter 1
Imagine that you live all your life not knowing where your meal next is going to be or even if they were going to have a next meal. Now imagine you're in your mid-twenties. For your entire life been a citizen for one nation, spoke that country language and didn't know much else about life. My Grandpa was in that position all his life when he lived in Vietnam. After watching three of their sons die in battle in the Vietnam War, my grandparents got tired of living in poverty. Everyday felt like it was the last day they were going to live. They wanted to live where they know they're going to be safe and not having to worry if they or their kids were going to get drafted to war. At that time most of the men ranging from ages 18-50 would be draft. When they got drafted they would have to fight for the VC which was Viet Cong they are the communist of the country. These people are so cold heart that they didn't care for anyone in any circumstances. On the other hand didn't draft anyone who had any kind of deformation. My uncle was so desperate not to go out to war that he had bomb his toe on purpose. At that time many people had bomb their body parts just to stay back and take care of their family. I know it sounds crazy, but they didn't want to go to a suicide mission.
Luckily many of my family members didn't get drafted however, the one's that were drafted they did many things to their body so the VC would send them home. The war was a bad time for families in Vietnam it gotten so bad that they prayed everyday that their house were still there when they get home from work. At that time all of the kids were working, even the younger ones. My grandparents had 12 kids ranging in ages from twenty-four to four.
