Perception is the process of a person using their senses to acquire certain information about their surroundings or situation. When a person’s perception is different from the actual reality then their experience will be unique. Everyone has their own point of view of their surroundings or environment. When the reality is found out that then can be a learning experience on that person about themselves.
College is a great opportunity to make a better life and have better opportunities in the job market. In my mind college was going to be difficult. Since high school was an up-hill battle, I had the same feelings about college. I was looking forward to the domineering teachers who only handed out assignments just so that their “job” seemed complete. I figured that since I was older and having someone shout constant orders at me would not be the greatest thing in the world but I needed higher education. After thinking about what to do for a long time I came to the conclusion that I would just bite down and take it one class at a time.   The first day of classes seemed to have come at me with haste. Nervousness seemed to be the only thing that was on my mind. I could not figure out if I was excited or upset.  
The truth of the matter was that college did not meet any of my presumptuous expectations. That was not a bad thing. College is an experience on an entire different level than high school. It is not at all what I thought it would be. The professors are very reasonable and understand that there is life outside of the classroom. Of course, there are still high expectations and a certain degree of homework, but it is never anything that cannot be accomplished. There are no orders being bellowed out at anyone.
