It was to these improvements that she attributed the low death rate" (Dietz, 1967, p. 63) Nursing has come a long way since the time of Florence Nightingale and even some time after her. Many changes have been made. This paper will strictly compare some of the transitions in nursing. It will compare a nurse's qualifications, dress code/ wages, and their responsibilities from the 19th and early 20th century to today, and prove that the contrast of the two times, makes nursing a very different profession compared to what it once was.
