Olmeca culture is considered the mother culture of civilization in Mesoamerica. Their cultural achievements, though, can only be traced to a certain point. They had no written language, and little artifacts have been discovered. These are a couple of reasons that not much is known about them. Two main cultural achievements known about the Olmec's is their art and religion.
The most dramatic achievement of the Olmec's was the building of massive stone heads. These stone heads could be as large as six feet tall, five feet wide, and weigh as much as thirty-six thousand pounds. Archaeologists believe that they may represent Olmec Kings, but there is no proof.
They also made sculptures, small jade carvings, pottery, and even figurines. Many of the figurines represented supernaturals. They believed that the head represented the celestial realm; the bodies represented the environment in different aspects; and the lower body represented......
