Definition of Peer-to-peer (P2P)
Peer-to-peer (P2P) is a type of temporary Internet network that allows a group of computer users with the same networking program to connect with each other and directly access files from one to another's hard drives. Typically, users of Peer-to-Peer networks install free software on their computers which allows them to find and download files located on another Peer-to-Peer user's hard drive and to share files from their own hard drive (Barkai 2000).
