Why Select Pda

I selected “PDAs and Convenience” as my topic because in the past year and a half, I have become more fascinated with PDAs and as an early Christmas present to myself, I purchased my own in November of 2005.

I first became interested when I was supervising one of our contractors at an off-site location. I was driving, he was riding; and once we arrived to the offsite location, he opens this gadget and says to me “is this 1305 Euclid Street?” I look at him, then I look up at the building and sure enough it was 1305 Euclid Street. So I looked at him again and said, “what is that thing?” He went on to explain to me that it was a PDA that had a built in Global Positioning System (GPS). I was interested, however, we had business to take care of so we went on with the work we started out to do. When we got back to the main office, I asked more about the device. Once he explained it to me, I was hooked.

Now I have “played” with PDAs in the past because of my work as a PC Technician, but I have never really used one. I fell in love with the PDA that this contractor had and I just had to have one. So I purchased one, and cannot imagine my life without it. It has so many features. It helps me keep track of things and it gives me reminders. It allows me to read e-mail and even connect to the internet if there is an available network. I can take notes in a meeting without having any paper or pen. It allows me to create Microsoft Word and Excel files and save them for later use. If I am lost, then it will help me find my way. It talks to me. It keeps track of the miles I drive and I am sure it does more than what I have listed here, even more that I’m aware of, but these are the features I use most. So, all of the above reasons are why I selected “PDAs and Convenience” for my topic.
