EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Commonwealth of Independent States was established on the 21st of December, 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It consists of eleven former Soviet Republic states including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan meanwhile discontinued it’s membership in 2005 and is now just an associate member.
