During a 9/11 Commission hearing in 2005, Representative Dennis Kucinich argued: "If not for the Israel lobby, America would not be at war," This may be true on many level although America’s ever growing oil demand may also be a determining factor for occupation in Iraq. However, the cumulative impact of the Israel lobby is even greater when one considers the fact that their political objectives are pursued in vacuum. There does not exist, in this country, a political counterforce that opposes the specific goals of the Israel lobby. Financially, the United States has greatly assisted Israel prosper by becoming the top beneficiary of the United States that exist to this day. The Israel Lobby efforts have a unique and significant influence in not only how so much uncharted money lands in the hand of the Israel government, but also how United States Presidential Candidates are chosen. Many repercussions come as a result of the United States supporting Israel in its own fight on ‘terror’ in the West Bank. However, after several years of backwards foreign policy, the U.S. is still a dominant supporter for Israel’s actions against the Arabs.
Despite the current situation, Israel, in the genesis of its existence, desperately needed help from other countries in order to fulfill the Zionist goal. This was righteously achieved through the sympathy the world shared for the Jews, created by the Holocaust World War II, which enabled the idea of Zionism to flourish. Zionism, a political movement originating late 19th century, is based on the religious tradition linking the Jewish people to Palestine. Woodrow Wilson sparked the political relationship between Israel and the United States by signing the Balfour Declaration in 1917, which was signed in sympathy for Jewish Zionist aspirations. This essentially was the birth of Israel but it wasn’t until 1961 did U.S. begin to financially supporting Israel.
