Does it make a difference who we vote for in 2008? Will things change for the better?
Do we need a change? Yes we do, and as my dad always said, “if you don’t vote then
you’re not entitled to an opinion”. This is true, but first, we have to decide who will do the
best in protecting this county and at the same time, make th necessary changes to
improve the health of the economy. This choice should be narrowed down by
deterimining who has the best leadership skills. Growing up in a house that was
entirely “right wing Republican” , I didn’t really have fair perspective or distinction
between the Rrepublican and Democratic Parties. While my parents allowed me the
intellectual freedom to choose which side I favored, with lack of exposure to democratic
views, I was unaware of how to decide which I perfered. So, I adopted a familiarity to a
“republican way of thinking”, seeing that politics was a frequent topic of conversation in
the McBrayer house, and that it mainly favored one side.
I was in high school after Bill Clinton was reelected president, and I have to
say, with all the “Clinton bashing” that was done by the media (and my parents) I
couldn’t help but to take an interest. I noticed, Unfortunately, that a lot media reflected
more on his personal life they his publif affairs. In realit is the media idea of what’s
important and accurate can sometimes be a little off balance.The most important factors toconsider when voting for a presidential candidate shoud lllll
investigating a
candidate’s views directly, fin dout whaere they stand on the important issues thateffect
out country. Opinions should be based on an individuals core beliefs. Core beliefs
should stem from what is best for the people in our nation.
