You plan a luxurious vacation which includes the alluring destinations of the magnificent Great Wall of China, the spectacular beauty of the Grand Canyon, and a stunning cruise to Hawaii. You purchase a new home in an affluent neighborhood, buy a magnetic red Italian sports car, and fund your children's education at Harvard University. This dream of a lifetime (having one million dollars given to you) rarely happens and this illustration is used to envision the freedom our Congressional Representatives have in budgeting our tax dollars. Congress budgets taxpayers money by passing appropriations bills for all government spending and attached to these bills are pet projects, known as earmarks. This practice of adding earmarks to appropriations bills is also known as "pork barrel"......
