In some societies, strong ideology of any kind may be beneficial to others, or it could lead to a negative outcome.
Strong ideology played a big role in history. For example, during 1919, a new form of government called communism appeared, and immediately people were either completely with it or they were against it. This shows that when something new arises people feel that if they don’t choose right away whether they are for or against it, then they will face consequences. Such pressure can cause a lot of tension is a country. On the other hand, because Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were anarchists, both were sentenced to death; but their death opened many peoples eye to the effects strong ideology has on society. Because of the incident, many people felt angry and began to protest. So, in some ways, strong ideologies can force people to notice problems they might not had seen before. As a result, strong ideologies can cause some harm, but sometimes works out for the better in the end.
Just like in history, strong ideology is important in literature. For example, in “The Crucible”; a character, Abigail, negatively affects the town of Salem by thinking that covering up her affair with another character is more important than other people lives. Such beliefs can make people very upset and have harmful consequences. In some cases, death can even be the outcome. On the contrary, in the book, because Elizabeth Proctor conformed very will to Salem’s ideologies, authorities hesitated to arrest her when she was accused of being a witch. This shows that sometimes conforming to certain things can be better than rebelling. As a result, ludicrous ideology can have either positive or negative effects in a society.
In conclusion, ideology can cause harm of good in a country. Unfortunately, it usually cause either extremely one or the other. The outcome is rarely ever neutral on both sides.
