Relationship Between Available Resources And Expectations
Relationship Between Available Resources And Expectations
Relationship between available resources and expectations:
At the time we started the project, we worked with a completely open mind set as to what we were going to make but as we searched the local market, we realized that the options were not that much. We were forced to choose from a limited number of component types due to the lack of availability, resources, and skilled labour.
So it became our top priority to manage our project to be both feasible and optimized without straining too much on the resources available. For example, the first material that we got from Aviation base could not be used due to the lack of labour and other technical facilities. We were thus forced to search for a suitable material that was readily available and could be used according to our design specifications. We thus opted for mild steel as the material for our Go-Kart.
We have tried our best to balance out availability and performance while keeping an eye on efficient resource management. There have been a number of times when we have had to compromise on performance but we have always kept safety first.
Constraints:
As said earlier, there were a lot of limiting factors. From design to manufacturing, every step had its own constraints. First of all we were given design limitations by our DS Sir Raja Amir Azeem. It limited us to a 70 cc engine, 4 wheeler. The rules supplied were all constraints on our design.
As our design refined we faced many new constraints. We had a 70 cc engine so we had to use every means possible to reduce net weight while ensuring a high factor of safety. The safety factor itself was a constraint on performance.
The components available in the market were a major constraint however. We are still not satisfied with the tires available in the market. Pakistani market lacks in customized machine elements. We could not find much when it came to being the right stuff for our Go-Kart. The skilled labour is also not much. People who have...
