Religion
This chapter starts off telling some stories about people who were forced to doubt God's justice. A Hungarian Jew who is put into a concentration camp and experiences absolute horror and can't help but wonder why God is not helping. Everyday innocent people are murdered, raped, & plagued with disease, challenging our faith to God.
The books of Job and Genesis try to explain the suffering and evil. In the beginning of this book, Job has everything: health, wealth, family, and friends. Eventually he ends up with nothing, no money and no friends. His friends figured that Job must have sinned to have all of this happen to him. Other explanations were that Job's suffering was a test and a discipline of the human spirit. Soon God comes to Job from the midst of the whirlwind. Job ask God about the suffering of the innocent and instead of God answering, he replied with three questions:
Where were you when I laid the earth's foundations?
Tell me, since you are so well......
