Riordan is a global plastics producer with approximately 550 employees (Apollo Group, 2004). Over the past two years Riordan has seen a decline in sales and profits. These events have forced Riordan to make strategic changes within the organization. Presently, Riordan is facing a lack of employee dedication, motivation, and job satisfaction. There is a vast amount of information about Riordan available. Therefore, deciding the real problems, opportunities, possible solutions, and the acceptable amount of risk to make changes are the topics of discussion. For Riordan to be successful, the company needs to change and owner, Michael Riordan must realize that without change his company may lose everything he has worked so hard for over the past several years.

Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Recently, Riordan has made several strategic changes within the organization. Sales and profits have been declining over the past two years forcing the company to make changes. Riordan conducted the annual employee survey to help pinpoint any problem areas. Riordan knows that employee turnover is up more. Turnover has increased immensely in the past three months than the company has seen in several years. Exit interviews are reflecting that the competition is taking Riordan employees by offering higher wages and career opportunities.   The survey shows employees are not satisfied in their jobs especially with wages and benefits. This is why Riordan needs to start making changes so that the turnover ratio does not get any higher. Sales are a part of the restructuring that Riordan has done.
