1. Exposure causing increase likelihood of adverse health effects?
a. As many as 90 cases of Malathion-related illnesses from the application program
b. 4 out of 90 could be fatal
II. Dose Response Assessment
1. What is relationship between amount of exposure and health effects?
a. With controlled exposure and precautions the population would be fine
b. Exposure and precautions not followed could result in illness and even fatalities
III. Exposure Assessment
1. How much, how often, and how long are humans exposed to the substance in question?
a. Exposure would be direct and in neighborhoods where kids play and people relax outside.

a. Must avoid and prevent contact with residues for a week after applications
IV. Risk Characterization
1. What is the probability of individual or population having health effects?
a. People who are directly exposed could become ill
a. Fatalities could occur if exposed and become ill
a. If Malathion is used it could possibly kill mosquito predators making the West Nile Virus spread

I do not believe that Malathion should be used to kill off the mosquito population in an attempt to control the West Nile Virus that is being passed to humans from mosquitoes.   Pesticides can be dangerous and have health effects; a lot of the farming industry has steered away from pesticides for the reason that human consumption if not properly taken care of can be poisonous.   Malathion is exactly that, a poison.   What is poisonous for animals and insects and even some times the environment is more than likely poisonous for a human to be exposed to.
Even though there were 50 cases of the West Nile Virus and 2 fatalities, according to the study done in Florida there was an increase by 40 cases of adverse health effects and an increase by 2 fatalities.   Even though you may be killing off the mosquito population and preventing more cases of the West Nile Virus, you...
