Our Suggested Training Program
Step one
• Promote a Vision and a Mission
It is important to gain the full support and understanding of all staff involved in the training to be successful at accomplishing the goals set out. At this stage, it is important to hold a meeting with all staff involved in the training process. At this meeting, we should outline our training goals, and objectives, and fully explain the reason that we feel the training is necessary. In this case, we would conduct the meeting with all first and middle level manages present, as well as the union, this will ensure they explain to the production staff what changes are ahead and why.
Time allotted: 2hr meeting
Step two
• Build Commitment and Confidence
• Emphasize Group Recognition
• Instil Team Spirit
This can be accomplished through a 1-2 day team building course. The course would consist of team building exercises and games facilitated by an outside organization that specializes in team building. First level and middle level managers will participate in this exercise. By successfully completing this course, all managers should feel a sense of belonging and team spirit. This should motivate employees to work together to achieve a common goal, and aid in preparing them for the rest of this training program.

Step three
• Technical Training
The TNA concluded that most managers have limited technical knowledge with regards to how APM’s machines actually work. As managers it is important that they understand what it is that their subordinates do, and how they can aid them when needed. Without this knowledge, it is difficult for a manger to properly assess problems and provide efficient, reasonable solutions to aid in operating a successful shift.
