Introduction
“Most real estate companies operate on a dependent model where the broker provides leads to salespeople and then offers them a commission, or they operate on an independent model where agents receive minimal support from the broker but keep more of the commission. In contrast to these traditional models, the Keller Williams model fosters a synergistic environment where both parties succeed through teamwork, by encouraging agents and brokers to share their best practices with each other and reward associates who help the company to grow” (Keller Williams, 2008). With dedication to serving its employees, Keller Williams proudly proclaims a vision, mission statement and firm to a belief system of values that encompass an interdependent relationship with its agents.
Background
Twenty five years ago, a partnership was formed to establish Keller Williams Realty Inc. (KW) The founder’s dream took life as the corporate vision which is “to be the real estate company of choice for a new generation of sales associates and real estate owners” (Keller Williams, 2008). Though based in Austin, Texas the company recruited agents and eventually expanded to offer franchise options and began establishing offices in cities across the country. Keller Williams has grown over its 25 years in business to become the fourth-largest privately held real estate brokerage operation in North America. At the present time, the company holds a roster of more than 650 offices and more than 77,000 associates in the United States and Canada combined (Keller Williams, 2008).
