Lillian Polanski - Mother of Mary and Marcus Polanski, Wife of Glen Polanski
and various students, police, ambulance drivers, camera men, reporters firemen and women, families of the school etc.

Throughout the play, speeches prefixed by SL should be spoken to the audience
Act I Scene I
The stage is set with a sink full of dishes in which Marcus is cleaning, a table in the middle of the room with four chairs, one of which his father Glen is sitting.
Marcus looks over his shoulder at his father.
Glen: Get back to work you good for nothing.
Marcus drops a plate on the floor.
Glen: You’re going to pay for that.
Marcus: I’m sorry, it was an accident.
Glen: I’ll give you an accident.
Glen gets up out of his chair and starts to walk at Marcus.
Marcus: (walking backwards, worried) I said I’m sorry.
Glen hits Marcus across the face and he hits the floor.
Glen: (forcefully) Now clean it up boy!
Marcus starts cleaning up the mess, Glen walks back and sits down.
Marcus: (under his breath, sarcastically) I said I was sorry.
Glen: (angry) What was that boy, you talking back to me?
Marcus: No, I promise I wasn’t Dad, I promise.
Glen walks back up to his son and gives him another punch in the face.
Glen: Don’t talk back to me you ungrateful son of a bitch, after everything me and your mother have done for you.
Marcus: (his eyes watering) Your drunk....
