Population Growth

The world’s current and overall natural growth rate is about 1.14%.   It can be expected that the world’s population of 6.5 billion to become 9 billion by the year 2042, an increase of about 50 percent.   The following graph is a representation of historical and projected population of the world.

The world’s age and sex population are as follows (data taken from the CIA World Factbook):

To summarize the given facts, it can be said that males and females between the age of 15-64 years makes up majority of the world’s population and also makes up the world’s spending power and workforce.  
Geographic Distribution
60% of the world’s population lives in Asia. China is home to more than 1.2 billion people. With a global population of 6 billion, one out of every five people on the planet. India is currently the world's second most populous country with 1 billion people but by 2040, India is expected to become the world's most populous country (by then it'll be home to over 1.5 billion while China will have a population of under 1.5 billion.)
