According to the MGT 449 Week Two Overview (2007), strategic planning is “the development of a written document by the organization that determines the strategic intent and direction for the firm including the mission, vision, corporate goals and objectives, tactics, measures for success, and a plan of action.” There are usually specific steps outlined for the implementation of the plan, which are measurable. “Once a corporation or business unit has formulated a strategic plan, it then must implement it. The corporate strategy must be transformed into meaningful goals and initiatives for the functional areas.” (Melnyk and Swink, 2004)
Management support and focus are needed for any process improvements which are planned for an organization. Including these processes in an organization’s strategic plan can ensure the proper attention is given to the improvement plans along with the necessary allocation of resources. When attempting to move products and/or services to a higher level of customer satisfaction, an organization must understand how total quality management relates to strategic planning.
This assignment will identify and analyze the strategic plan of the virtual organization of Kudler Fine Foods. In addition, the role of total quality management in Kudler’s strategic plan will be discussed.
