he journey toward higher education has many pathways.   There are traditional colleges and universities; and in this digital age, distance learning.   The online college I chose was Axia College of University of Phoenix.   Axia College offers 14 areas for obtaining your Associates Degree.   Then a student moves onto their Bachelor’s program in their chosen field of study at UOP.   In distance learning you are in control of your own success; learning is at your own pace and in your own environment.
Using Axia’s Educational Resources
    Understanding the basics and using the educational resources available is vital to successfully navigating the online experience.   I would start by accessing the OLS tutorial under My Learning Resources: Tool and Tutorials.   This tutorial gives an in-depth look at how to navigate through the distance education process. I would recommend buying an external hard drive of your choosing.   A student will need to down load their syllabuses for each course, a course overview and their course calendar.   In the syllabus it will have the course description, topics and objectives for each week.   Also under the learning tools tab is the Center for Writing Excellence which will help in preparation of your papers both academic and professional, Center for Mathematic Excellence, Writing Style Handbook which contains formatting guidelines to understand how to write in APA (American Psychology Association) style; which Axia requires, and Student Workshops.  
    Another tool is the use of the University Library which offers, according to the handbook, “a broad spectrum of resources regardless of the location and modality of instruction.”   There are numerous databases to search from and one in Spanish.   Also, using Boolean search methods are recommended as well.   Finding peer reviewed articles can ensure the citation of the resources is true and correct.   The key to identifying key information within articles is through...
