Abstract

I believe education is the key to success. In order to achieve our goal of success, we must want more out of life. I believe success is a very personal and will be different for everyone. To get more out of life we must set goals for ourselves. One such goal would be having a successful career. However, becoming a success is not easy if you do not understand what aspects you need to reach a successful life. In order to be success in life you need to be self- advocacy, time management, and building memory. That is, if one attains a desired goal through achievement, it would be considered a success. However, a successful character cannot be produced from one successful accomplishment. The true indicator of success is not what is accomplished, but what is felt. In order to be successful, one must be happy. There for we need to work hard in school, so that we can have a successful life.

One strategy that will ensure success is self – advocacy, because working with others to inform and sensitize the student body, faculty, administration, and staff about disabilities. Find out if there is a support group for students with disabilities on your campus and become an active member in this group. At such group meetings you will find out you are not unique nor are you alone in you struggle. In addition to the comfort that provides you will learn studying and test taking strategies and about instructors whose teaching style will be most compatible with learning style. They also provide peer counseling and support to other students with disabilities on an individual basis or through a support group on campus. When joining a professional organization as a student member advocating for rights of adults with learning disabilities.
