Switzerland is one of the world’s richest and most investment-friendly destinations. It is a tremendously prosperous nation and bears an ever-flourishing market economy. Because two-thirds of Switzerland is covered with lakes, forests, and snow-capped mountains, it has extremely limited natural resources. Although it is a relatively small country, its lifestyle and exceedingly proficient market regards it as one of the most highly successful countries. While located in the heart of Europe, Switzerland stands independently and is not a member of the European Union. On the global scale, the Swiss financial system is one of the most competitive markets available, and is particularly dependent on the success of its trade, banking, and tourism sectors. However, Switzerland’s ever-booming market is in direct correlation to its’ economy, prime location, and international relations.
Switzerland’s economy is based primarily upon three factions: Industry, Agriculture, and Services. The Swiss industry focuses on highly developed products and services. The strengths which differentiate Swiss firms from their competitors are product quality and consistency as well as innovation and customization. Around forty percent of the Swiss population is industrially employed. Machines, metals, watches, and textiles are the country’s main industries. All four of these productions account for the majority of Swiss exports. Switzerland ranks second place worldwide as an exporter of paper processing machines. It also ranks fifth for exporting machine tools, as well as precision weighing equipment. The importation and exportation of goods is Switzerland’s main source of income, therefore these areas of industry are heavily concentrated.
