Rosa Louise Parks was more influential towards the civil rights movement than Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. This African American not only stood up for herself, but also for the rights of others. Her actions took major steps towards equality. Not giving up her seat on the bus, fighting a long trial against segregation, being actively involved in the NAACP, and founding an institute offering guidance to young blacks made Rosa Park the important and famous person that she is today, along with paving the way for others.
On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was arrested and convicted for violating the segregation law in Montgomery, Alabama when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. Four days after Rosa Parks arrest Martin Luther King Jr. issued an order demanding all blacks in the city to immediately boycott the bus system.
